Lucien le Moine
Sweaty, smoky, reductive notes on the nose of Le Moine’s barrel of 2007 Richebourg lead into rich plummy fruit, which on the palate is underlain by formidable yet fine-grained tannins and clean, concentrated meatiness. This finishes with a palate-enervating coda, but it seems almost too soon still (in June of 2010) to say just what the themes are of the main movement. For now, what’s most impressive here is the wine’s sheer richness of fruit, density, and energy. I don’t doubt that this is one of those few 2007s that will be worth cellaring for 15 or more years.
