Yes, that&#039;s true, but...

A good chunk of what I do with regards to SQL is what we&#039;ve dubbed &quot;ad hoc reporting&quot;.  Normally, I&#039;m just looking up a piece of data for a different department or something.  If I&#039;m writing actual SQL code that will be used in some sort of production capacity, then I always select individual columns.

This is a really nice article.  Great uses of Texter!

But isn&#039;t it more efficient to &lt;em&gt;not&lt;/em&gt; use * in SQL?  Shouldn&#039;t you select only the columns you need?  ;)
