(Update: WinStikker is now Open Source!)
Any more of this stuff and people are going to start to wonder if I work for Values of n (makers of Stikkit - and no, I don’t work for them - yet ;). After writing the python script described (badly) in the previous post, I was somewhat inspired to hack out another tool to help make Stikkit even easier to use/adopt. With that, I give you WinStikker!
First of all, I have to say this - WinStikker is a hell of a lot easier to use than the Gmail Contacts script
All you need is your stikkit API key (which WinStikker should prompt you for, the first time you run it). That’s it, then you’re ready to go. Here’s how it works:
Fire up WinStikker, type in some text for a new Stikkit (just like you would through the website), and click “Stikkit!”. It’s that easy, folks. If you’re the kind of person who creates new Stikkits all day long and processes them later, this is a very lightweight solution that should work well for you. It even stores your API key between sessions!
And for you folks who like pictures, here’s a screenshot:
To run this application, you’re going to need version 2 of the .NET Framework - and if you have a reasonably updated copy of windows, you should already have it. If not, you can download the installer here.
So, yeah, there you go. I tested it pretty thoroughly, but if anybody finds any problems (or has any suggestions for other features), let me know.

It doesn’t run on Windows XP.
@Wahid
Actually, I wrote it using XP. Make sure you’ve got version 2 of the .NET framework installed (link to download site is in the post text). If you still have problems with it after that, let me know and I’ll help you get it working.
Cheers!

I installed WinStikker, filled in my API at the prompt, and was rewarded with the lovely little popup window that I hoped to see. I didn’t need to enter anything into Stikkit at that time, so I clicked the “X” in the corner to close the WinStikker window. Now I can’t figure out how to access it. There’s no WinStikker icon in my tray or on my desktop, and it doesn’t appear in my list of programs when I click the “Start” button. It’s as if I never installed it, but I must have done so, or I never would have seen the popup window in the first place, right?
I use Windows XP.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Betsy
