Free Alternative to the Two Minute Timer from DavidCo

timer

A few months back, I was perusing David Allen’s website and came across the Two Minute Timer in the online shop. The idea is simple: a small program that counts down 2 minutes, then does something when the time expires. I thought it sounded useful, but I didn’t really think the application justified a $10 price tag. So, being a good little programmer, I wrote my own.

The above image is a screenshot of my version which, honestly, doesn’t quite have all the bells and whistles that the Davidco version has (keyboard controls, pretty UI, etc.), but it does what it’s supposed to. After 2 minutes, it plays a sound. You can Start, Pause and Reset the timer, and that’s about it.

Regrettably, this is currently for Windows only and requires the .NET framework (version 2.0). Please let me know if you would like a version for Mac (or even Linux), and I’ll do my best to accommodate you.

And, of course, I’m more than willing to add new features if it’s something the community would like, so feel free to email me or comment here if there’s something it doesn’t do that you’d like it to.

Incidentally, you have my word that this application is in no way malicious or dangerous to your system. For anybody who wants it, I’d be happy to zip up the source code and send it to you so you can build it yourself, if you’d like.
